Mitch Hurwitz, creator of the beloved Fox comedy Arrested Development, which was canceled before its time after only three seasons, announced yesterday that the show will be be making a comeback. Not only will fans finally get that movie they’ve been hoping for since 2006, but also a new (“limited”) season of the show as a lead-in to the movie, expected to film next summer for a 2013 release.
The show’s original cast members—including Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter, and Michael Cera—are all expected to return.
For those wondering what all the fuss is about, here’s a brief description of Arrested Development from IMDB:
Level-headed son Michael Bluth takes over family affairs after his father is imprisoned. But the rest of his spoiled, dysfunctional family are making his job unbearable.
But honestly, you have to be there, so I recommend checking out the first three seasons. While the show does focus on a family—the incomparable Bluths—romance fans always have widowed Michael’s search for love (with his brother Gob’s telenovela star girlfriend as a contender?), Lucille 2’s infatuation with Buster, and...modern-day kissing cousins?!
Yeah, like I said: You really have to be there.
