My appreciation of Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard and infatuation with the fictional Eric Northman are probably too well documented already, but someone had to catalog the True Blood eye candy for Heroes and Heartbreakers readers.
This season of True Blood has given us amnesiac Eric, and when Eric gets all doe-eyed, Sookie just melts. Then, as often happens on the HBO show based on Charlaine Harris’s novels, the clothes come off. And we get gratuitous booty shots.

Season 4 may offer the bounty of Eric’s nudity, but the first time we caught a glimpse what was to come was back in Season 2.
In “I Will Rise Up” (Season 2, Episode 9), Sookie has her first dream of Eric after he tricked her into drinking his blood. Earlier in the episode, Bill explains that by ingesting a drop or two while sucking on Eric’s chest Sookie may now be attracted to him. She denies it. Cue naked-in-bed-together dream. Just as the episode hits 27:00, we get side Northman butt. And it was at this point that many a Trubie joined Team Eric.
But that was a dream. What might Eric really be like in action, so to speak? True Blood kicked off its third season with the Sheriff of Area 5 flaunting his considerable skills with the new Fangtasia dancer Yvetta. Following Sookie’s interruption of their bondage fun in “Bad Blood” (Season 3, Episode 1), Eric nonchalantly walks over to Sookie as viewers get a glorious view of his glutes in action at 13:36 into the episode.
Later in “Night on the Sun” (Season 3, Episode 8), we see Eric indulge in a little male/male action with Talbot. Sure, Eric is just getting it on with the King’s husband for the chance to murder him, but it’s hard not to be distracted by another chance to see Skarsgard side butt (at 53:14) just before he stakes Talbot from behind. And if you start the scene a little earlier, you get to watch ASkars take off his shirt for your eyes (OK, it was for Talbot. Let me pretend.) at 45:28.
Finally, the fourth season’s romance between Eric and Sookie offered up a Skarsgard smorgasbord. (Did I mention he likes to be naked?)
After all the waiting, Sookie finally gives it up to Eric in the woods. It wasn’t as hot as the scene from the book, but “I Wish I was the Moon” (Season 4, Episode 6) did give us Alex naked in the woods (get your booty fix at 58:03).
That getting-back-to-nature thing included all wide-angle shots. Rather disappointing for those wanting to get up close for the dirty. Luckily, HBO knows we’re all pervs. As such, 17:01 into “Cold Grey Light of Dawn” (Season 4, Episode 7) the show explodes with Eric and Sookie nudity in a steamy sex montage. This time the two bring it indoors. Apparently those trees last episode were blocking the cameras from providing quality shots of Alex’s ass. Thank goodness they brought it into Sookie’s house.
Many who came into True Blood as fans of the Sookie Stackhouse novels have waited a long time to see the infamous shower scene from Dead to the World played out on TV. Well, Eric and Sookie do step into the shower 18:58 into “Spellbound” (Season 4, Episode 8), but quickly step back out into some shared dream where it’s snowing and sunny and there’s a giant bed. The walk to the bed offers a nice view (19:52), and there’s plenty of action in the bed, too (21:13). So, if you excuse the whole bonded on blood V-trip thing—and I’m really trying to—the eye candy is pretty delicious. The episode does offer a non-hallucinatory clip of Skarsgard adding a log to the fire in Sookie’s bedroom. He does this naked (35:28), and it may have you considering using your fireplace in the summer. Just in case a striking man decides he’d like to keep those flames active for you.
That covers it for the Alexander Skarsgard backside visuals on True Blood for the time being. I may be ready for Eric to get his memory back, but I hope he leaves the clothes off.
