It’s definitely not a romance, but there is romance within—just check out how Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan characters look at each other the first time they meet. That is pure romance.
The film is Drive, based on the tightly-written, perfectly-crafted James Sallis noir novel of the same name. It’s directed by up-and-coming Danish director Nicholas Winding Refn (no idea how to pronounce that last name!) and also stars Bryan Cranston (as you can see in the clip), Albert Brooks, Christina Hendricks, and Ron Perlman. It opens September 16.
