Always Bet on Black: Taye Diggs, Idris Elba, Lance Gross, and More Black Hotties

Taye Diggs

A few weeks ago, we rolled out our love of  black-haired, blue-eyed men, inspired by J.R. Ward’s upcoming hero in Lover Reborn, Tohrment (Lover Reborn’s Tohrment, Damon Salvatore, Superman, and More Dark-Haired, Blue-Eyed Hotties!)

And we enjoyed (ahem!) doing that post so much, we thought we’d continue the Hottie Series with a spotlight on black and bi-racial guys.

Some of our favorite fictional heroes* include Catullus Graves, from Zoe Archer’s Blades of the Rose series Stranger; Daniel Falcon from Heart of the Falcon in Francis Ray’s Falcon novels; Max de La Vega from Lauren Dane’s Revelation, part of the de La Vega Cats series; and Daryl “Harvard” Becker from Suzanne Brockmann’s Harvard’s Education, part of the Tall, Dark and Dangerous series.

*Thanks to our Twitter friends for suggestions!

Hm, I seem to notice a significant lack of Dule Hill and Gary Dourdan. Also for consideration, dancers Danny Tidwell and dancer/actor Stephen "tWitch" Boss.

If we're talking books, I have to give my nod to Mehuru, the male lead in Philippa Gregory's historical novel, A Respectable Trade. Educated, intelligent, resilient and dignified in the face of indignity, he's a hero to remember, even though he didn't get a HEA.

Yummy!

I really think Idris Elba could play James Bond and blow everyone out of the water. And I love Daniel Craig as JB. :)

Shemar Moore is so hot.

Good choices.

But Taye Diggs is my favorite.
And I love Catullus from Stranger.

Mmm...Michael Ealy. Loved him since Barbershop, and was further impressed by him in Their Eyes Were Watching God with Halle Berry.

Oh, and in books Nicholas Grey in Midnight by Beverly Jenkins. Sexy, smart, and determined. :)

@AnnaBowling -- OMG, Dule Hill! I want to go edit him in now, lol. (He will always be Charlie in The West Wing to me, though of course he's awesome and hilarious in Psych.)

It's so hard to choose for these posts, but the good thing is that there are always future posts. And say, maybe we'll do a Readers Favorite hottie post at some point...

Maybe it's my age, but you seem to have left out a man whose physical attractiveness is overshadowed only by his talent.....Denzel Washington. Y to the ummy, that one.

Blair Underwood. Delish. Boris Kodjoe, be still my heart.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.....mmmmmm!

Redline, no complaints from me about editing in Dule Hill. The man oozes charisma.

Seconding all of your suggestions, Grace.

Seal! How could I have forgotten Seal?

I was just about ready to throw down when I saw LL Cool J at the end. Lucky you guys!

LL was the inspiration for one of my own heroes in a WIP. Ladies Love Cool James indeed...

I can't believe "Harvard" was mentioned, without mentioning Suzanne Brockmann's super smooth Jules Cassidy. Who cares if he's gay? If I was in trouble, Jules is who I'd want leading the rescue.

You forgot Samuel Jackson.

Glad you mentioned Poitier though. Such a charismatic man as well as gorgeous.

Watched Fast 5 recently and there were at least three black/bi-racial hotties in there:

Vin Diesel; Tyrese; and the Rock.

Usher's body is also great, but he's not quite an actor so does he count?

I know this ship has already set sail, but I so saw Idris Elba as James Pattrson's Alex Cross.

What about Sean Blakemore? He's currently on General Hospital.
