Dawson’s Creek: Where’s the Cast Now?

It’s Dawson’s Creek Appreciation Day! Before we look to the past, let’s take a look at where stars James Van Der Beek, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams are now.

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, and James Van Der Beek

James Van Der Beek recently guest starred in the (unfortunately, cancelled) NBC show Mercy, where he did a fantastic job as a jackass doctor, while Katie Holmes, who most recently starred in the controversial Kennedys miniseries as Jackie O, is probably now best known for her role as Mrs. Tom Cruise.

Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams & Ryan Gosling

Joshua Jackson, of course, is starring in the FOX show Fringe, a cult favorite if not a ratings giant. And Michelle Williams is arguably the most successful of the DC alum after starring in well-received movies like Brokeback Mountain, Inception, Shutter Island, and, most recently, Blue Valentine.

Would you have predicted the kids from the Creek would end up where they are today? Who has surprised you the most?

Oh good, I'm not the only one who used to religiously watch this show! :) Even while I was in college, I would turn it on. And I cried when it ended. Honestly, I think Katie Holmes surprised everyone with her marriage to Tom Cruise. I still can't believe that they're happy. And I expected to see more from her acting wise. As for the others, I'm not surprised at all. Seeing Michelle Williams and Josh Jackson in repeatedly great roles is just awesome.

You certainly were not!

Totally agree about Katie. I still remember when she said in some magazine that as a young girl she dreamed of marrying Tom Cruise. Only a couple months later they were an item. WEIRD.

Love Michelle Williams and Josh Jackson. And I've actually gained a new respect for James Van Der Beek after his Van Der Memes project and Mercy.

Oh, duh, you're right, it was Leo's other movie, Shutter Island. Thanks for the correction!

No question I'm the most suprised by Katie Holmes. Didn't see that "role" coming, and while she did a turn on Broadway last year to mixed reviews, if I remember right, when I see her now, I see a weariness I wouldn't expect. Maybe post-partum hit her hard, or maybe it's tough to get the kinds of roles she once wanted, but doesn't it seem like the spunky-girl-0n-the-go type character has morphed into a woman always cast as a participant in strange/tragic relationships?
