Speaking of book-to-screen projects in Hollywood, a film adaptation of Shannon Hale’s Austenland, to be directed by Jershua Hess and produced by Stephenie Meyer, will begin filming immediately in the UK, according to entertainment site Geek Tyrant.
The cast includes Keri Russell, Bret McKenzie, James Callis, Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Seymour and Rupert Vansittart.
Here’s a description of the book:
“Jane is a young New York woman who can never seem to find the right man—perhaps because of her secret obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Predjudice.
"When a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-obsessed women, however, Jane’s fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become realer than she ever could have imagined. Is this total immersion in a fake Austenland enough to make Jane kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in a Mr. Darcy of her own?”
That Mr. Darcy, he sure knows how to keep us coming back for more! Are you in or out? I already know I’ll be there for Keri Russell, James Callis (Baltar in Battlestar Galactica!), and Jennifer Coolidge.
