When we're not talking romance novels, we're critting clothing (what—you thought we read historical novels for the history?), so last night's Met Gala, which honored the late Alexander McQueen and opened the Savage Beauty exhibit, gives us the chance to indulge our other passion: fashion.
(Perhaps all the attendees thought that Kate Middleton wore McQueen best, having chosen his designer Sarah Burton to design her wedding gown, because it seems very few of the stars in attendance actually wore McQueen.)
And, one has to say, it's kinda sad when the best-dressed woman at the whole shebang is Madonna, she who wore this in 2009 (can someone say mutton dressed as lamb?)
But this year, Madonna takes a more demure approach, wearing the Vionnet-inspired gown by Stella McCartney. It's gorgeous. Its only similarity to 2009's debacle, in fact, is that both are blue:
And the back is even more lovely.
The contenders for Worst Outfitted could include Christina Hendricks, Andre Leon Talley, Freida Pinto, Beyonce, Iman, Jennifer Lopez...the list goes on an on.
Meanwhile, we'll wish a) that we could afford this gown and b) we had somewhere to wear it.
