For the Love of . . . Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris?

Oh, mon dieu! Woody Allen directs what looks like a sweet rom-com titled Midnight In Paris, starring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams. (Not to mention Michael Sheen, Marion Cotillard, Adrien Brody, and France's first lady, Carla Bruni).

In it, Wilson—who, if you close your eyes has a speaking cadence very similar to Allen's—travels to Paris with his fiancee, and then falls in love—with Paris.

Many have tired of what they see as Allen's very white, very New York attitude, but honestly, he's been edging away from that for years—remember Vicky Cristina Barcelona? It wasn't Vicky Cristina Bowery, now, was it?

Are you still on board with Woody? How about Owen?

This looks so awesome. Love Woody, Owen, McAdams, and Brody. I really, really love me some Brody.

Unfortunately, can't stand either Wilson or Allen. C'est la vie...

I love Paris, and Woody Allen always manages to suck me into his world. I would definitely see this, particularly since Allen's "voice" is so distinct, he really requires very strong actors who won't come across as Woody Allen puppets, and Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams (unlike ScarJo, as lovely as she is) pull it off sublimely.

Sadly, I abhor Woody Allen movies and it's because of that voice - the stuttering male. I watched a movie a few years ago and remember thinking 'if I didn't know any better I would say Woody Allen wrote this' - uh, yeah, totally confirmed by the credits. Oooops.

But for those who love him I hope this is a great film for you!
