Gooey Center: The Sweet, but Tough Side of the Alpha Hero!

Arnold Schwarzenegger in Kindergarten Cop

Today we're thrilled to welcome authors Scarlett Cole and Sidney Halston to Heroes and Heartbreakers. Scarlett and Sidney are not co-authors, but write similar kick-ass alpha heroes in their books The Strongest Steel and Laid Out, respectively. The key to a great alpha hero, in our opinion, is that he has a sweet spot when it comes to his heroine. Scarlett and Sidney are here today to talk about the gooey centers of those alpha heroes we love—with visual aids, of course. Thanks, Scarlett and Sidney!

Note: Some of the gifs in this post are NSFW, so it might be best for you to save it for when you're tucked in for the evening!

What is it about the anatomy of a strong yet sweet leading man, a hero in any genre of romance, that leads us to fall in love with him, if only for the few hours it takes us to devour the story from cover to cover.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s a cowboy, a pirate, a rock star, a tattoo artist or a cage fighter. They all have one thing in common… an anatomy that rocks our world. From the top of their (usually) tall heads, to the bottom of their size thirteen feet (because size matters, ladies), there are certain non-negotiables our heroes must have.

Sidney Halston

Full Contact by Sidney Halston

Sidney Halston returns to steamy Tarpon Springs, Florida, where a hell-raising bad boy prepares to get down and dirty for the woman he loves.

How could she have been so stupid? When Jessica Cross decides to give her violently jealous boyfriend—the otherwise influential and charming Dennis Stavros—a second chance, she very nearly becomes a statistic. After weeks of healing from a broken rib and collapsed lung, and with Dennis behind bars, Jessica finally feels ready to come out of hiding. But will she ever be able to take a chance on love again with someone new?

Mixed martial arts fighter Slade Martin knows he has a bad reputation. Hell, he's probably earned it. So it won’t be easy to convince beautiful, vulnerable Jessica that she can trust him—that from the moment she walked into his life, she’s been the only one he’s wanted. Powerful and confident, Slade knows he can honor his vow to protect Jessica body and soul. Winning her heart will be another matter . . . but a woman like Jessica is worth the fight.

Get a sneak peek of Sidney Halston's Full Contact (available October 28, 2014) with an exclusive excerpt of a selected scene.

Slade hadn’t heard from Jessica all day. He’d called and texted her a few times, but she hadn’t responded. He had planned on going home to shower and get dressed before picking her up for dinner, but he was too worried. He’d called the Pier and Patsy had told him that Jessica had gone home about two hours ago after what turned out to be a very busy day at the bar. When she didn’t answer again, he decided to go to her house and check up on her. His mind was racing. Could she have had a car accident? Had Dennis gotten to her? Was she sick? By the time he arrived at her house, he was a combination of worried and mad. He got even madder when he saw her car parked in the front. Was she just not answering his calls? Had he done something wrong? Since when did he care this much, and why was he feeling so insecure? All these thoughts just added fuel to his mounting agitation.

Tattoos, Randy Couture, Warrior, and More: 10 Reasons to Love MMA!

Against the Cage by Sidney HalstonToday we welcome author Sidney Halston to Heroes and Heartbreakers. Sidney's Against the Cage comes out May 27, and the hero is a cage fighter who meets a bookworm and teaches her a thing or two. Sidney wants to gives us her top ten reasons of why she love—and why you should, too.

1. The men are seriously hot. Like…smoking hot. They’re muscular and mostly shirtless, at all times. Lots of testosterone, lots of alphas, and lots of hotness all locked up in one cage! I could probably end this list right here.

2. The coolest, sexiest tattoos you’ll ever see are on MMA fighters. These men are seriously into their tattoos, and it shows!

3. They love to talk crap to each other. It’s like watching people gossip—live. And what woman doesn’t like gossip? It’s very entertaining to watch.

4. Camaraderie. There is a sense of brotherhood among the fighters. Even though there is a lot of crap talking (see above), at the end, there is (usually) respect for one another and it is one of those swoon moments for me. I love to see the guys hug it out at the end of a grueling match.
